I typically hammer the ESC key on HP machines to halt the boot and then chose either F9 or F10. I had a similar issue with HP BIOS changes until I realized what I was doing wrong. I had several people come into my office to see if I was playing a game. Side Note: The internal speaker in the BIOS is very loud. I think there is just something wrong with this bios. PS: So the OS recovery failed a few times so I decide to just give up and get a replace system. I do like the increased security options but I really wish it wasn't turned on by default. What is the process for getting physical recovery CD from HP? Giving the issues I have been having they probably won't work because this has no built in CD drive so it probably won't let me use an external one. So I am trying to use the recovery media to reset the system back to factory defaults. #Insydeh20 setup utility hp reset bios how toOver the last few days trying to figure out how to fix I tried to use the HP security tools builtin windows it disable the TPM, This required me to create a windows password which of course I didn't write down yesterday and I have no idea what it is. It wasn't till after that I tried to use PXE boot. While this process worked it also deleted the built recovery partition that came on the hard-drive. When I first got I wanted to make a backup of the stock image so I used the HP tool to create a recovery USB. I am thinking that some this might be my own fault. I should also mention that the computer also won't boot to any of normal external media but I would expect that with this UEFI thing forced on. Has anybody else ran into a similar with HP secure boot/UEFI refusing to turn off recently? I have a lot of HP computers but this the first time I have had one with this secure boot. HP support just told me "that isn't suppose to happen" they are going to look into the issue or something and call me back. I reset the bios to factory defaults a few times but no luck. I called HP support and have been back and forth with them for two days now. When I clear the secure boot key it does ask me to type in a code. I've tried clearing the boot key several times but no matter what I do when I save the changes it goes right back to Legacy Support Disabled. When I follow the standard directions to disable secure boot and enable legacy boot it doesn't save the settings. So I figure it must have some do the new to me Secure boot function. When I tried to boot to the network it seems like it find the WDS but then says before I can do anything else Selected Boot Image didn't authenticate. I want to get to connection to my WDS server so I can put a custom image on it. #Insydeh20 setup utility hp reset bios installI got a brand new prodesk 400 it has windows 10 install on it.
